Thursday the 2nd of June 2022 was the start of the Queens Platinum Jubilee celebrations. What better way to kick off this event than to host a Beacon of Light Celebration.
Not only did Johnstonebridge come together, but the whole county united to enjoy what has been very sadly missed… ‘a good old get together’ with friends and family, neighbours and colleagues.
The hall was open to anyone that wanted to join in. The event began with the help of BJ entertainment, balloon animals, disco dancing fun and games. The BBQ was a very big hit, but thankfully everyone got fed with the help of extra volunteers pulling in and pulling together. Hook a duck, a bubble machine and other children’s games kept the young ones entertained.
The bar was in full swing and spirits were high into the evening when the fire was finally lit in the far field for all to admire, John Parry the local Roads Patrol Officer, was appointed to light the Beacon.
Huge thank you to everyone that come along and an even bigger thank you to all the wonderful volunteers, it could not have been achieved without you.
